Okay, der Preis für ein englisches Hardcover Buch ist schon wirklich sehr gut. Aber: das Buch verspricht leider Dinge die es nicht ist. Anstatt ein Sammelsurium aus kryptozoologischen Kreaturen zu bieten ist es mehr eine Biographie des "Autors" (bewusst unser Anführungszeichen). Ist natürlich nicht schlecht, ganz und gar nicht, aber nicht das, was ich mir erwartet hatte.
Das für den Preis Gebotene hat meiner Ansicht nach volle 5 Sterne verdient. Das Buch ist interessant, wertig verarbeitet und angenehm groß. Sämtliche Zeichnungen sind liebevoll ausgearbeitet und laden dazu ein, sich mit ihnen zu beschäftigen bzw. sich mit der Idee hinter den Kreationen auseinanderzusetzen. Die Story habe ich (noch) nicht gelesen, der erste Eindruck war jedoch ebenfalls vielversprechend und spannend.
schon der Umschlag ist ein Augenschmaus! Ich habe das Buch für eine Freundin gekauft, die von Fabelwesen nicht genug kriegen kann und sie war ganz begeistert. Die Geschichte ist ein bisschen schwach, aber das ist auch nicht der Hauptfokus des Buches.

Ein sehr Interesse erweckendes Buch. Ist im Stil eines Tagebuches geschrieben. Die Illustrationen sind sehr gelungen und sehr detailreich.
