I was resolved not to like this book. I mean, Cass!!! I was sh*t-out-of-like for her! And there you go Ms Andrijeski, pairing her with Bali!Wrong, just wrong!And then you turn this into a second, or third chance love story! How could you?! ;-) Well I'm used to underestimating you now, so maybe next time ...?Aaaah, no use lying to myself. I'll grab the next, and the next book by Ms. Andrijeski as long as she writes them!!!a few seconds ago
The story of Balidor and Cass ... well, I was certainly impressed ! It was so good to see the background of those two. It was also so wonderful to see how they connect with each other. This was a book that needed to be written to understand why, how and what. A must read !
I am so freaking happy for both of them! Duty and life be ...... They deserve this and each other. Definitely A Glint of Light in the darkness, to bring hope when everything seems hopeless.
I had the opportunity to read another version of GLINT OF LIGHT when it was a part of an earlier collection. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the novella has evolved into a full-length novel! JC Andrijeski has truly fleshed out the main characters and I better understand and sympathize with their motivations. I am a faithful reader of the Bridge and Sword series and eagerly await any new stories involving these characters. That being said, I was concerned when I began reading A Glint of Light and it seemed to be a pairing between Balidor and a female that I REALLY didn’t care for or want to see as a potential love interest for him.I have held out hope through the series that Balidor would find someone that touched him the way Allie had. I initially had some difficulty getting past his choice in this latest installment. However, I found myself smiling about halfway through the story at Balidor’s antics, and his willingness to stand up for what he wanted and felt was right. I was touched that his love interest was able to connect with him through a common traumatic childhood and more willingly accepted his feelings for her with the detailed back-story JC provides.All in all, I ended up loving the story and rooting for the couple long before the story came to a close. J.C. Andrijeski always has a knack for pulling me into her characters’ emotions regardless of my differences with them and her skill in this area continues to shine through here. The complexity of her characters continues to amaze me as it seems we never finish peeling away the layers of anyone’s psyche. This is a great read and a strong addition to The Bridge and Sword Series!
An excellent story! A story about Cass and Balidor and how they save each other. Cass has been caught and everyone believes she is beyond redemption after all she had done to Allie, Revik and even Jon. But there is light at the end of the tunnel because Balidor believes she can be saved and the one person who is helping Balidor at this time is Revik’s son. Jon learns what Balidor is doing because of the up coming Christmas party. He does not tell anyone which is good because it is the twist to the story which is crucial to saving Cass.
JC Andrijeski’s A Glint of Light: A Bridge & Sword Novel #8.5 is another companion novel to the fabulous Bridge & Sword series. If you’ve not read that series I strongly urge you to do so. It’s really fantastic. If you have then after book 8 you’re bound to wonder about things addressed in this book. See the publisher’s blurb for what this book is about. It’s tons of fun for followers of the series, and a nice story in general. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next series companion book.
